Notes on Placito del Risano/Appunti sul Placito del Risano (804 d.C.), The document of the Rižana (Risano) assembly, which was summoned to the Rižina (Risano) valley in 804 AD: this is important because of the information it provides about the settlement of the Slavs in this area and because it describes the complex Byzantine administration and the penetration of the Franks into the area via the introduction of a strict new feudal system which was resisted by the Istrian population.
